H.R. 4851 (the Continuing Extension Act of 2010) was signed into law late Thursday by President Obama. This bill once again extends COBRA premium subsidies for involuntarily terminated employees. The 15-month, 65 percent premium subsidy is now available to employees who were involuntarily terminated from April 1 through May 31.
The Senate has already added a measure (Section 211) in H.R. 4213 (American Workers, State and Business Relief Act of 2010) that would extend the subsidy to individuals involuntarily terminated through December 31, 2010; however, the House has not acted on it yet.
