Matt Cowan has more than 20 years of experience working with large employers and their employee benefit plans, giving him the knowledge and perspective necessary to meet the challenges in this important field. He is President of Cowan Benefit Services, Inc. Areas of specific expertise include brokerage services, flexible benefit plan design, financial analysis, underwriting services, and plan administration.
He has helped employers with 10 to 250,000 employees solve their benefit problems. Formerly, Matt managed the employee benefits department of a major national brokerage firm. He first started in this field on the insurance company side with a leading national insurance company. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee, Matt graduated first in his class in the School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration and a major in Finance. He is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, a designation earned through a joint program of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Professional memberships include the International Foundation of Employee Benefits, International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists, and the National Association of Health Underwriters.
